Lie For Me, Karen Young

Lie For Me

Lauren Holloway had it all. Her career as an educator was on a fast track. She was engaged to marry Tucker Kane, the man of her dreams. She would be a mom to his young daughter, Kristy. The plans were finalized for the beautiful home they would share. However, her life was forever changed one rainy night by a horrific crime.

Tucker’s divorce ended his troubled marriage to Margot. But his troubles didn’t end with the divorce. Instead, he was plunged into a bitter custody battle over three-year-old Kristy. Even though his differences with Margot were a shadow on the plans Tucker and Lauren made for a life together, both felt sure all would work out. Until the night that Margot was murdered. Fearing that he would become the prime suspect, he begged Lauren to lie for him. When she refused, he disappeared without a trace.

Suddenly, her faith and her belief in her ability to judge good and evil were shaken. Was she duped? Did he really murder Margot? Then, several months later, Tucker comes out of hiding needing her to help him prove his innocence. Is he innocent, as he claims? Can she believe him? Can she trust him? Mystery and passion mix in this story of one woman’s struggle as she faces a harrowing decision.

Review:

Lie For Me is a compelling drama with an underlined Christain theme, and a second chance romance on the side.

Overall I enjoyed the story. It wasn’t as suspenseful as I had hoped it would be, and without that or a strong romantic element I wasn’t quite as caught by the story as I wish I would have been. But at the close of the book, I was satisfied with the character’s HEA, and characters that are full of heart are always enjoyable to read about. And these characters are definitely full of heart. They are people of strong faith and hope that stand by their morals, even in an impossible situation.

I would recommend this for someone who enjoys mystery with a light dose of romance on the side, and highly recommend this for Christians who have a love for mystery. I also believe that fans of Debbie Macomber and Susan Wiggs would enjoy this book.
