Once upon a time…the Blood Sorcerer vanquished the kingdom of Elden. To save their children, the queen scattered them to safety and the king filled them with vengeance. Only a magical timepiece connects the four royal heirs…and time is running out….
Nicolai the Vampire was renowned for his virility, but in a twist of fate “The Dark Seducer” had become a sex slave in the kingdom of Delfina—stripped of his precious timepiece and his memory. All that remained was a primal need for freedom, revenge—and the only woman who could help him.
In her dreams, a wanton vampire called to Jane Parker, drawing her to his dark sexuality and his magical realm. But for a human, all was not a fairy tale in Delfina. Jane was the key to Nicolai’s memory…but exploiting her meant dooming the only mortal he craved.
Nicolai is the royal heir to the throne of Elden. He has no memory of his life before he ended up in the auction for sex slaves. He has been used and abused for years. His only connection to Elden, his timepiece, has been stolen by Laila.
Jane was injured in a horrible car wreck where her entire family was all killed. She is alone in the world and doesn’t really have anything to live for but yet she gets stronger daily. She dreams about a man chained to the wall nightly. She is drawn to him and she doesn’t understand why. The only time she feels sexy is at night in her dreams.
Jane wakes up in a strange bed, in a strange world. She doesn’t recognize anything around her except the book on her dresser. Instantly she realizes that she has to find the man from her dreams and try and save him.
Nicolai needs Jane to help him escape but she is disposable, at least that was his thought at first. The more time that he spends with her, the more he realizes that she is his and he will do whatever it takes to protect her. He is frustrated because he can’t remember his past. With Jane’s help, he is slowly getting his memory back but it is still very painful.
Jane is a strong female but she has just been living life like a robot. She has no family left, she broke up with her boyfriend and quit her job. In Nicolai’s world Jane is blossoming. She is getting stronger and more confident every day. She is proud of the fact that she cared for him in the jungle while he was healing by herself.
I love how Nicolai’s character grows throughout the book. He starts out as self centered and willing to hurt anyone to get what he wants. As the story progresses he comes to care about Jane and is willing to do whatever it takes to keep her safe. Her blood is making him stronger and helping to strip the cage around his memories away. He hopes with her by his side he will be able to reclaim the throne and find his siblings.
Elden and Delfina are full of magic, mystical creatures and mayhem. Elden is ruled by the Blood Sorcerer with Ogres for security. The land is stark and everything is dying because it is under evil. I hope once the royal heirs have regained control of the castle, it will be returned to a place of beauty.
The story grabbed my attention from the beginning and I can’t wait to read the other three stories in this series. The characters are interesting and well written. The supporting cast is needed but they do not overpower the story or main characters. They mystical creatures help add another element t the mix; paranormals are my favorite type of stories.
Overall I really enjoyed this story. It is well written and definitely worth the read. The other contributors to the series are Jill Monroe, Jessica Andersen and Nalini Singh. With a superstar group of writers, how can you go wrong? I give Lord of the Vampires 4½ Flaming Hearts.
